Morning work at AE followed by coaching fitness drills with the Gibbons team. Very impressed and pleased with the overall fitness of the team. Special congrats to Tyler for running at personal and team best mile time of 5:34 and congrats to Nelson on a personal best 6:56 mile. Accordingly, the Gibbons mile test has been renamed the Nelson mile.
Then nap, followed by hydration and my continuation of comeback training. 2.3 mile run - very hilly and very hot (109 heat index today at 3pm run time) Out and back course, came in at 16:40 which is dece for that course, but needs to get better. Then quick rest and hop on bike for an ambitious 10 mile loop. Hit my least favorite and major climb mid-ride, completely hot and tired, decided to call it a day after 6 very hilly miles. Could've kept going if really required, but I had an "out" with Tyler who was following behind the truck. Probably a good call in that heat. Thanks again T for his help today. Ended the afternoon with a nice rehab session with Chad.
Today's mission to work into the lactic zone and get some miles under my belt, without ANY hamstring soreness, was achieved. Only thing left to do now is continue re-strengthening it while working my way back into top form. Trying to remain optimistic.
Good plan - remember:
ReplyDeleteIn the clearing stands a boxer
And a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders
Of ev'ry glove that layed him down
Or cut him till he cried out
In his anger and his shame
"I am leaving, I am leaving"
But the fighter still remains
