As a result of my continued involvement in the world of fitness and sports performance training, I learned from my mentor Brian Diaz of the importance of training logs. Hence, below are my attempts to accurately document what I do as a collegiate soccer player, both on and off the field. Enjoy!

Indoor and Testing Cont.

Last night we had a late (10:15 pm) 7 v. 7 indoor game. It's in an adult league that our CNU squad plays in every winter. CNU is divided into 3 different teams of 10 players to compete in the league up in Williamsburg. We won handily in a game against an adult rec team (as we should've). I have a bet with Denny about who will score more goals this season. Denny posted 4 last night and I had 3, it will be a close race! (Loser buys lunch at the winner's favorite restaurant). It was also nice to catch up with Brian some on the phone yesterday.

Then this afternoon we hit the weight room for more testing. Today was squats and bench. I maxed the squat to 3 reps of 265 lbs (which mathematically works to about a 290 lbs 1 rep max). Needless to say, my legs were tapped after that! Then we hit the bench. After warm ups I did 155 lbs easily and then jumped from there to a 165 lbs 1 rep max. My all time max at Activedge was 170 lbs, so I was pleased with that after only one serious month of lifting prior to this. More testing to come on Friday and then we start doing full workouts. Looking forward to making improvements!

  1. Good work on the testing chief! I think you should have a points race where you count goals AND assists... much more team oriented and still reflective of overall talent.

  2. VERY good idea, will have to discuss with him! Also he did assist one of my goals last night so selfish play has been avoided so far...

  3. Indoor soccer is a lot like hockey... sometimes the creator of the goal does a lot more work than the goal scorer. So like hockey, I think it should be rewarded equally - point for goal, point for assist. Most points wins!
