During my free time I kept thinking negative thoughts and it wasn't helped by all the bad food that was surrounding me on my visit...I desperately want to get back into top form. I just couldn't seem to follow the Jedi Master's advice: to isolate the negative and engage the positive. I got so frustrated that I decided to take it out on myself when I got home from my 5+ hour road trip. I did what I like to call "running myself into the ground." Essentially I just punished my body until I couldn't walk straight...unhealthy and not recommended although needed on the rare occasion. From the house I jogged out to the steepest hill I know to just run my frustration out on myself. A few stats on this hill from Google Earth:
165 yards in length
The bottom is 146 M above sea level and the top is 168 M above sea level- so the hill elevation rise is 22M (or 72 feet elevation change). Therefore in roughly 1.5 lengths of a football field I ran repeats up a 7 story building.
I had the number 10 in my head- to jog down and sprint up it 10 times. I did the first two and felt good- by the fifth I was done...I couldn't go anymore. I got dizzy jogging back to the house and had some blurry vision so I knew I did my job. Dad was inside lifting so I managed all the strength I could (after lying on the floor for 10 minutes) to do a full body lift:
4 sets of bench, BB row, BB military, DB curls
2 sets of dips and chinups to failure
Ab rotation and foam roller/stretching
While this workout is not smart training, as a young person sometimes I feel you need to go out and brush yourself against your limits. It is similar to Brian's strategy of incorporating workouts that go hard from the start. Hopefully it's one step in the positive direction for the summer- like I said I will die trying. Now looking forward to some rest tonight!
sometimes you just got do what you gotta do...glad you got to clear your head. can't wait to finally see you this week!
