As a result of my continued involvement in the world of fitness and sports performance training, I learned from my mentor Brian Diaz of the importance of training logs. Hence, below are my attempts to accurately document what I do as a collegiate soccer player, both on and off the field. Enjoy!

Battle Won

In the war towards a conference title, we were able to win our first battle. And a battle it was.
Averett University, who is always a tough opponent, came in strong. It began with a terrible tackle against our right back Kyle Rose, who hurt his knee. The other player moaned on the ground for awhile, received attention from our trainer, then popped back up to play the rest of the time while Kyle was forced out of the game with a diagnosis pending this week. Glad to see Caleb Baker, who has been itching for some minutes in the right back position, go into the game and play very well. Then disaster, Averett (who's game plan is a classic DIII booting long ball strategy) played a set piece into our box and scored. Thankfully it was called back offsides. We continued to fight and Sean Moriarty was able to snag a good goal in the 18th minute from the top of the box. I came in with about 10 to go and played very hard. Got a great pass in the box from our outside midfielder, beat the center back, turned the corner, and played a great ball across the 6 yd. box- unfortunately the keeper made a great save from our outside mid's shot.
Went into half time up 1-0. Then the battle continued. Went in at the 20 minute mark and played less than 10 minutes to give Lybert some rest. Had some good passes and combinations, then went to the bench to anxiously watch our guys finish out the game. Winston had many opportunities to finish the game off and eventually did so after receiving a nice through ball and making a pass outside the keeper's reach to the far post. Battle won, #2 national ranking maintained, leg feeling good, looking forward to the week ahead.
