Coach told us it was imperative to make a solid statement this weekend as we looked to hold on to our #2 national ranking.
First game on Friday night against Marietta, came in with 16 min. to go in the first half, with us up 2-0. Played very well and very hard against a team that was not very technical but very physical. Half ended at 2-0. We eventually won 4-0, adding two goals in the 2nd half. Played another 20 quality minutes or so during the 2nd half. Coach was happy with my performance.
Second game on Saturday night against Penn State-Altoona. We had a slow start not getting many chances in the first 10 minutes or so. Then the scoring opened up in a matter of moments as our All-American ,Winston, finally found the net for the first time this year scoring our first two goals and adding an assist so that we were up 3-0. It was a matter of breaking the team in order for the flood gates to open. I subbed in with 13 to go in the 1st on a corner kick stoppage. Jogged across the field, took the corner, and we scored. Up 4-0 going into the half. Played another 15 minutes or so in the 2nd half, took some good set pieces, attempted nothing dramatic as it got to the point where Penn-State became so tired and frustrated that they started hacking. Glad to come off the field with 15 left in the 2nd to give some other guys some minutes. Despite giving up a PK off a terrible call in the second half, we were able to pull off a 6-1 win. Solid CNU soccer statement achieved. Happier with my play and my leg this weekend. Practice to be continued next week.
Good post and comments on the game! I felt like I was there now!! Good to hear the leg is continuing to heal and playing well... is there a shot at #1? Who is #1, Messiah still?
